Corbett National Park (Uttrakhand)
Corbett National Park is the place for observing tigers in chilling proximity. It is the first national park in India. Corbett National Park was established in 1936 in Uttarakhand . At inception the name of the park was Hailey National Park. In 1957 the park was rechristened in the honour of the great conservationist and naturalist Late Jim Corbett. The Corbett National Park is situated at the foothills of the Himalayas. The park covers an area of 521 square kilometres. It houses around 110 tree species, 50 species of mammals, 580 bird species and 25 reptile species. The endangered Bengal tiger of India resides here. Best time to visit is from October to June.

Ranthambore National Park (Rajasthan)
Ranthambore National Park is one of the biggest & most renowned national parks in Northern India. Being considered the famous & former hunting grounds of the Maharajas of Jaipur, today it is the major wildlife tourist attraction spot. The park sprawls over an estimates area of 400 sq kms. Steep crags embrace a network of lakes and rivers, and a top one of these hills, is the impressive Ranthambore Fort, built in the 10th century. The terrain fluctuates between impregnable forests and open bush land. The forest is the typically dry deciduous type, with dhok, being the most prominent tree. As a result of stringent efforts in conservation, tigers, the prime assets of the Park, have become more and more active during the day. The best time to visit is from October to June.

Keoladeo Ghana National Park (Rajasthan)
The Keoladeo Ghana National Park or Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary lies between two of India's most historic cities, Agra and Jaipur. This north Indian sanctuary is situated in the country's north-western state of Rajasthan, about 190 km from the national capital of Delhi. Keoladeo is famous as one of Asia's finest birding areas, with over 380 resident and migrant species, including the Common, Demoiselle and the rare Siberian Cranes. Best time to visit is during winters i.e. from November to March.

Sariska National Park (Rajasthan)
Sariska Tiger Reserve is well nestled in the Aravali Hills covering 800 sq km area divided into the grasslands, dry deciduous forests, sheer cliffs and rocky landscape. Whether you want to have camel safaris, go out for shopping in the surrounding places, visit medieval palaces or wildlife watching; Sariska Wildlife Sanctuary is the best place for you. Nearly 90% of the area in the sanctuary is covered with dhok trees accommodating various wildlife species. Sariska Tiger Reserve remains open form 1st October to 30th June for all seven days of the week.

Kaziranga National Park (Assam)
Located on the banks of the mighty Brahmaputra River in the far North East of India, Assam, Kaziranga National Park covers an area of approximately 430-sq-kms with its swamps and tall thickets of elephant grass making it the ideal habitat for the Indian One-Horned Rhino. Kaziranga National Park is a birding paradise; the grasslands are a raptor country that can be seen on safari makes a remarkable experience. Kaziranga's visiting season is from mid-November to early April months. During the monsoons, the Brahmaputra River bursts its banks, flooding the low-lying grasslands and causing animals to migrate from one area to another within the Kaziranga National Park.

Bandipur National Park (Karnataka)
Bandipur National Park is regarded as one of the most beautiful and the better-managed national parks of India. Located amidst the picturesque surroundings of the towering Western Ghat Mountains on the Mysore-Ooty highway in Karnataka, Bandipur National Park covers an area of about 874.2 sq km. Bandipur also has a sizable number of Tigers. Other natural inhabitants of this lovely forest are gaur (a type of bull), sambhar, chital, mouse deer, four-horned antelope, wild dogs, wild boar, jackal, sloth bear, panther, malabar squirrel, porcupines and the black-knapped hare. Birds like jungle fowl and green pigeon are also found here. Only 80km south of Mysore on the Ooty road, it's very accessible from both Bengaluru and Mysore. October to May is the right time to visit the park.

Gir National Park (Gujarat)
The Gir National Park which is also known as the Sasan Gir is a national park that is located in the state of Gujarat. This wildlife sanctuary first came into prominence in the year 1965. This is the only remaining place where one can see pure bred Asiatic lions and they are situated in one of most protected areas of the continent. The national park and its forests are also home to a wide variety of flora and fauna and visiting it is an interesting experience. The park is home to around 2375 different species of fauna including mammals, insects, reptiles and birds. Some of the animals that can be seen in the park are lions, leopards, Chinkaras, antelopes, sloth bears, hyenas, jungle cats and the ever elusive rusty spotted cats. The best time to visit is from November to May.

Bandhavgarh National Park (Madhya Pradesh)
Bandhavgarh National Park is one of the popular national parks in India located in the Umaria district of Madhya Pradesh. Bandhavgarh was declared a national park in 1968, with an area of 105 km². This park has a large biodiversity. The density of the tiger population at Bandhavgarh is one of the highest known in India. The park has a large breeding population of leopards, and various species of deer. The undulated hilly regions, mesmerizing natural beauty and pristine environment make this place a much sought tourist attraction in Madhya Pradesh. Best season to visit the park is from November to April.

Nagarhole National Park (Karnataka)
The Nagarahole National Park, also known as the Rajiv Gandhi National Park, was set up as a wildlife sanctuary in 1955 and later christened as a national park in the year 1988. The park stretches for over 643 sq km between the Kodagu (Coorg) district and Mysore district in the southern state of Karnataka. Nagarhole, meaning ‘Snake River’ in Kannada, is a small town in Karnataka where Nagarhole National Park is situated. It is a picture perfect tourist spot with lush green forests, mind-blowing waterfalls, temples related to Indian mythology and places of cultural importance. Nagarhole derives its name from the winding course of the river like a snake that flows through the forests. Some of the common predators that can be seen include tigers, leopards, sloth bears and wild dogs. Spotted deer, sambar, barking deer, four-horned antelopes, wild boars and elephants constitute the herbivores. Open Year round, the best period to visit is from October to May.

Tadoba National Park (Maharashtra)
Often referred to as "The Jewel of Vidharba", the Tadoba National Park lies in the district of Chandrapur in the north-eastern part of Maharashtra. It is the oldest national park in the state and was opened in 1935 and declared as a National Park in 1955. Tadoba is one among the 28 tiger reserves that are located in the country. Located in the heart of a reserved forest, it is an infinite treasure trove of innumerable species of trees and plants - and wildlife that includes tigers, panthers, sloth bears, hyenas, jackals, wild dogs, bison, barking deer, nil gai, sambar, and cheatal. The marshes in Tadoba are home to the marsh crocodile and it is one of the few remaining places where the species exists. The park is closed on all Tuesdays. The best time to visit is from November to May.

Periyar National Park (Kerala)
The pride of Kerala and a testimony to nature's splendour and human innovation, the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary is situated on the banks of the Periyar Lake - an artificial lake, at Thekkady. Here the high ranges of the Western Ghats are clothed in dense evergreen, moist deciduous forests and savannah grasslands. Below this thick green canopy roam herds of elephants, sambars, tigers, gaurs, lion tailed macaques and Nilgiri langurs. In addition to elephant rides, cruises on the lake and treks to the ruined Mangaladevi temple - a beautiful old stone temple situated in the heart of the Thekkady forest; this sanctuary offers the unique opportunity to watch and photograph wild elephants at close quarters. The best season to visit Periyar wildlife sanctuary is from the months of October and June.
